The Old Guys Are In An Old Show

I had a great time last Monday evening. Joey Whalen, from Janoose Productions fame, has gotten a group of rag-tag performers together to recreate one of the old West End Christmas Shows for a one time shot at the Workhouse Arts Center at Lorton. The show will take place on Saturday, December 9th at 4:45 p.m.

It was great seeing old friends like Caren, Ron, Laurie, Antonio and Ryan. The inimitable Ms. O’Leary and Electa will join us at the next rehearsal. Anita didn’t need to be at the first rehearsal since she was present at the birth of Christ and knew most of the songs as they were being written.

I’ve known some of these friends for over 20 year and I must say that they haven’t changed one bit. We all have a full head of hair, haven’t gained a pound and still have most of our original hips. The choreography has been toned down in this production and I’m not sure why. No one had trouble getting down on one knee for the Sleigh Ride number and three of us were able to get up without help. The Mistletoe Wheelchair Ballet should be the highlight of the performance! Although I do think that Joey should have spent a little more money and gotten the electric wheelchairs. Those gas-powered ones make so much noise but damn, are they fast!

Feel free to drop by for the performance on the 9th. By then, well have the batteries replaced in our hearing aides and should be able to stay in tune. Check out the web site for directions, www.lortonarts.org
Happy Thanksgiving!
