It's Been Too Long

Things have been kind of busy lately. We finally moved our business from Old Town to Franconia. Our quarters are a little more cramped but it was a good idea. The owners are saving to purchase a building of their won where we can run all aspects of the business including a video studio on site. The move took a lot out of of me, a lot of long hour and work on the last three weekends, but we’re not getting back into our grove, we’ve been here for four days.

Last weekend I chaperoned our Club 456 from church to a water park and snow tubing weekend at Massenuttan Resort near Harrisonburg, VA. Club 456 is made up of youth who are a little to young to be in youth group but want to be involved. They are 4th, 5th & 6th graders, hence the name. The trip was great, we left after work on Friday and got to our condo around 10:45. There were a total of 15 of us. We spent Saturday at the indoor waterpark, came back made dinner and then watch a movie with discussion afterwards.

On Sunday morning my kids and I made a French toast breakfast, checked out of the condo and then hit the slopes for the tubing. I had never been snowtubing and it was a blast. The weather was great, it was in the 60’ss but the snow kept us all cold enough to feel like it was right. On the way home we stopped at Cracker Barrel for a nice lunch. Barb and I had a great time, she even brought along her BFF Sage.

On Monday evening Barbara and I went to our tutoring jobs at church. Barbara has been tutoring a first grader this school year and I am a substitute for any of the other teachers who can’t make it. This week I worked with Balil on perimeters, cursive handwriting and reading. After the tutoring we went to my prayer group for a nice end to the evening.

Tuesday night I met a few SAIC folks from Florida who were supposed to be doing some training for. We met at the Carlyle Grand, and old hang out from our West End Dinner Theater days. Joannie Mathews and Joe Dodd used to like to go there for a nice dinner after a long night and we often had a good group with us.

Tonight I am leading a meeting for Tyson Corner rebuilding plan. The group has been working on the plan for over three years and they’re probably getting tired of t by now. I’m just going to write a summary for the project.

My dad’s birthday was Tuesday the 10th. We are going to celebrate it on Friday since that is the evening that we can all get together. He turned 72 and is still working full time as a VP of a structural steel corporation. More power to you, Dad!

Dani is working hard at school and playing goalie for the women’s lacrosse team. She has been having some stomach issues when she runs for an extended amount of time and that worries me a bit. She is used to running from dance and field hockey but she is seeing the doctor and he’ll let her know what’s going on.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
