My New Job!!!

I am very happy to say that I have accepted a new position with a firm in Old Town, Alexandria, The Perspectives Group. I had been doing consulting work for them while I was on my job search. After a few weeks the owner and the principal asked me to join their team as the director of business development and a senior facilitator. After a few weeks of mulling it over I decided that it would be a great fit for me and. The are a husband and wife team whom I have known for awhile from my church. We even went to Israel and the Holy Land last year together, an awesome couple.

In my position I am reaching out to primary contractors for us to sub-contract with them as well as sending in bids for federal, state and local RFPs. The Perspective Group is a small woman owned firm with a strong value based work ethic. They enjoy working on large contracts and there is nothing wrong with making a good living but they believe that when you do make a good living it is because you have an obligation to do work for those who are in need of help. It’s a job that I can be proud of.

Fairfax County government has proposed to eliminate homelessness in the county within ten years. The have hired us to facilitate creating the action plan with large work groups to make this idea come to fruition. It’s really great working on projects that are honorable.

I am back in the same neighborhood as I was when I was with PCIA a few years ago so I know a good amount of people in the area. On my second day I walked to a local lunch pick up spot called Perfect Pita. While I was ordering my salad (yes, a salad, can you believe it, I’ve lost 24 pounds in the last month and a half) when my dear friend Kevin Doyle came up and put his arms around me. Kevin only works a block away from my office so I hope we’ll get to see more of each other and have lunch every now and then.
